About Vivid Abrasives
Built by the Trades. Designed for Real Jobsite Conditions.
Vivid Abrasives was created to solve a simple but constant problem in the field: surface prep needs to be fast, consistent, and reliable—even when you’re working in cramped, dim, and messy spaces.
We produce high-visibility 180-grit open-mesh abrasive sand cloth engineered for the trades. Our specialized aluminum oxide open-mesh abrasive is built for soft metals like copper, brass, and aluminum, and also performs well on plastics. The vibrant colors aren’t just for looks—they help prevent product loss in crawlspaces, basements, and jobsite corners, where traditional abrasives disappear the moment you set them down.
Our Mission
To build and sell high-quality, innovative abrasive products to the trades—redefining surface preparation through superior performance and high-visibility design.

Our Story: A Product Born from Field Experience
Jeff Fergusson — Co-Owner, Product Developer
Jeff Fergusson is the developer behind Vivid Abrasives’ products. A proud Navy veteran with decades in the plumbing industry—working with Ferguson, Lixil Americas, HD Supply, Familian, and Home Depot—Jeff built direct relationships with plumbers in the field and saw the need for a better, brighter abrasive solution for copper pipe preparation.
That need became the catalyst for developing Vivid’s specialized open-mesh abrasive more than 20 years ago. Jeff doesn’t just sell the product—he uses it too, and knows exactly what matters when you’re stuck in a crawlspace, repairing a pipe, or replacing a fitting in a barn.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys traveling the globe with his wife and spending time with his mares on their Arabian horse farm.
Jennifer Frey — Owner, Business Manager
Jennifer Frey brings 30+ years of management experience into Vivid Abrasives, with strengths in operational efficiency, financial management, quality improvement, staff leadership, and customer satisfaction—ensuring the company supports its mission and meets both immediate and future goals.
Coming from a family of do-it-yourselfers, Jennifer values quality products that help homeowners handle repairs and improvements in a cost-effective way—without compromising results.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys time with friends and family and “horsing around” with her Arabian horses.
“At the end of the day, it’s important to roll up your sleeves and muck stalls to teach humility and remind yourself about the value of hard work. People in the trades put in long days and often do back-breaking work. We want to make their jobs easier—and our open-mesh abrasives will do just that!”

Proven Technology with a Real Track Record
The Vivid line is the result of 20+ years of research and development, originally sold under Pro-Grit Abrasives, a family-run line developed by Jeff Fergusson. For over 18 years, this proprietary mesh technology has been successfully marketed and field-tested across Canada, earning a strong reputation for durability and precision among professional tradespeople.
Pro-Grit will continue to be marketed across Canada under the Vivid Abrasives line.
Where We’re Going
We’re building Vivid Abrasives with a long-term vision: to grow from a specialized product line into a dominant force in industrial consumables—supported by high-visibility branding and strong supply chain partnerships.
We’re expanding through a multi-channel distribution approach, including manufacturer representatives and retail-ready product packaging designed to stand out in stores—not blend in like traditional abrasives.
